Uttarakhand Tourism


Uttarakhand is a beautiful state located in the Northern part of India. The name “Uttarakhand” is derived from Sanskrit  ‘Uttara’ means North and ‘khand’ means land. Uttarakhand Tourism is mostly famous because Uttarakhand has a large number of holy temples and shrines. It is also rich in wide diversity of flora and fauna. Uttarakhand Tourism is also famous because of the region’s beauty as it is surrounded by the high Himalayan peaks. It also has some famous national parks such as Jim Corbette National Park, Valley of Flowers National Park and Nanda Devi National Park. Uttarakhand is also a home for rare and endangered species which are reserved by various sanctuaries. The Valley Of Flowers National Park and Nanda Devi National Park together are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These National Parks contributes in the Uttarakhand Tourism as they attract tourists from all over the world.

In the Himalayan Range of Uttarakhand lies a large number of trek routes which are visited by a huge number of tourists who are nature lovers and adventure seekers. Uttarakhand Tourism consists of many tourist spots like ancient shrines, forest reserves, hill stations, National Parks and many more which attracts a wide range of tourists in this state of India. You can also witness the confluence of the holy rivers, River Bhagirathi and River Alaknanda. Since a very long time pilgrims visit this region to attain salvation and purifying themselves from their sins.
In the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand four ancient holy shrines are located Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri which together makes a Chardham Yatra. Hindus believe that one must go on a Chardham Yatra at least once in his/her entire life. Haridwar is also considered as a prime destination for Hindus. As the name itself means “Gateway to the God”.  And near Haridwar lies Rishikesh which is known as a Yoga center of India and is also popular for river rafting.


Uttarakhand consists of Holy temples, not only of Hindus but also of other religions. Near Roorkee Piran Kaliyar Sharif is located which is for Muslims. And for Sikhs Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara and Nanakmatta Sahib Gurudwara. And Buddha Temple in Clement Town, Dehradun for Buddhists. It has the highest statue of Lord Buddha in the world.


 Hill stations of Uttarakhand are another point of attraction for tourists such as Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, Almora and many more. Another tourist spot is Vasundhra Falls near Badrinath. Uttarakhand is also known for Auli which is “skiing destination” for tourists from all over the world.  And out of the number of treks the most famous trek is the Roopkund Lake Trek, it is popular for the skeletons found in the lake.




Uttarakhand is a destination for trekking in Himalayas, skiing, paragliding, mountain climbing and many other adventuress activities. Uttarakhand Tourism is expanding day-by-day.
